And if we are fortunate, we will have a rapid decline in Omicron cases as it's now peaking in the states which were struck early. I'm guessing sometime in March we'll see a huge decline everywhere in the country.
But this won't be the end of Covid 19. It will likely always be with us, with new mutations and new variants. But there have now been enough infections and vaccinations after two years, that the huge social disruptions of this pandemic will be gone and replaced by an endemic disease that will ebb in severity with the seasons.
We will have to get vaccinations yearly against the newest variants, just like the flu. And it will keep killing people, particularly the weak, the infirm, and the unvaccinated.
Life will go on for those who survive, people now know how to combat the virus, how to protect themselves with masks, social distancing, and vaccination. Medical science has delivered drugs and treatments to combat the virus. But many of us have/will suffer losses that will remain with us forever.
