Aerial photos of Tonga before and after, and limited reports from the area.

Not much communication from Tonga. Both submarine fiberoptic cables seem to be broken, and large quantities of ash in the atmosphere are making satellite communication iffy at best.

A single fatality on the island is known and her body recovered. A deceased Brit, she ran a group to save abandoned and mistreated dogs. She tried to save her five, the tsunami drowned her and only one of her dogs is known to have survived. Her husband lived by holding onto a tree.

Tonga consisted of over a hundred islands, the majority uninhabited. Many of the outliers have not been heard from.

To this add that Tonga has had only a single case of Covid and has announced that any relief materials that arrive will have to be quarantined, and anyone on such flights will not be allowed to leave the airplanes or ships.

Reports from outer islands include one with only two homes still standing and another with massive damage.
Aerial before and after photographs because communications are still limited.

Wow. If only 3 people killed will be surprised.
