For me it was the 6lb bass caught on a 2 weight flyrod fishing on the Econ River near Orlando on literally the last cast of the day. I have caught bigger fish, but if I had to pick just one fishing experience to relive, that would probably be it although the 8 1/2 pound bass that I caught on Sycamore Lake near Lexington was pretty damn special as was the 7 pound brown trout that I caught dead drifting a size 20 nymph on the Norfork River in 30 degree weather. Odd that 2 of my top 3 fishing moments would involve bass since I am a trout fisherman at heart.

Mine has to be a 50 lb rockfish at Tim's Ford in middle Tennessee about 12 years ago with my dad and a friend. Trolling with downriggers, 18-20 lb test with red eyed wabbit jigs. My dad had been fishing that lake for nearly 40 years never caught anything that big.

So, as the above was less of a personal accomplishment, besides deep sea fishing, my favorite was a 4 lb large mouth. I caught a tiny bluegill while crappie fishing, I was reeling it in bitching that the little bastard bluegill was taking all my bait. Got it about 5 feet from the boat, then WHAM! I think the fact my gear wasn't meant for anything big made it fun.

8lb. 4 oz. largemouth, caught on a GA. farm pond, doing everything wrong. It was miserably hot, in August, and I threw a buzzbait into muddy water because that's what was tied onto my line at the time. The bass slapped at the buzzbait once and then quietly gulped it down. I waited for a 3 count, set the hook & my rod doubled over. landed the fish onto the bank (which is why the fish looks so dirty). This picture was taken with a terrible digital camera but you can see how large the fish really is. Should have cleaned it up before taking the picture.

It is now on the wall.

275 lb. swordfish. Like trying to bring up a pissed off volkswagen. Caught at night on a 2 lb. squid rigged with disco lights in 500 ft of water.

Caught a 5lb 3oz Smallmouth on Watts Bar circa 1988. We fished all night, which was our favorite thing to do, and when the sun came up we starting throwing Pop-r's. Caught the damn thing on 6lb test with a flimsy as hell spinning rod. I think it took somewhere around 15 minutes to get the damn thing in. We stopped counting jumps at 10.

It came clear out of the water when it hit and bout scared me to death and then I just hung on for dear life while my dad laughed the whole time hollerin' hold 'em hold 'em. But the kicker is, I threw the thing back when it should be hanging on my wall right now.

I don't have a favorite catch, but for me it was just hanging out and fishing with you and your dad. We caught some good ones. I miss doing that...

My most memorable was actually my daughters first two largemouth bass. On one cast, she was having a problem getting a fish in, I eased over to her, and saw her problem, she had one fish on the front set of trebles and one on the back set of a tiny torpedo!! She got them in, and I immediately removed that plug and preserved it for posterity.
